Hezekiah told the Israelites that God would be gracious and merciful if they turned to him:
9 For if you turn again to the LORD, your brothers and your children will find compassion before those who led them captive, and will come again into this land, because the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”
God will not forsake those who seek and trust him:
10 Those who know your name will put their trust in you,
for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.
The Psalmist tells us that God is looking for those who will seek Him:
2 God looks down from heaven on the children of men,
to see if there are any who understood,
who seek after God.
The prophet Isaiah says that if we seek the LORD by forsaking ungodly ways, he will have mercy and forgive us:
6 Seek the LORD while he may be found.
Call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts.
Let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him,
to our God, for he will freely pardon.
The letter to the Hebrews tells us that God rewards those who believe him and seek him:
6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
