2. What is Herod hoping to see when Jesus is brought before him?
v 9 ... He hoped to see some miracle done by him.
3. What does Jesus ask his Father to do in relation to those who are about to crucify him?
v 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
Summary Points
- v 1 to 25 Jesus is brought before the Roman governor Pilate, and also Herod. Despite there being no evidence against Jesus, Pilate condemns him to death by crucifixion
- v 26 to 43 Jesus is led away to be crucified. As he hangs on the cross he is mocked by those watching. One of the two criminals crucified with him acknowledges Jesus' innocence. He recognises that Jesus is the coming King and asks to be remembered by him when he comes in his Kingdom
- v 44 to 56 Jesus dies at about 3pm and is hurriedly buried by Joseph of Arimathaea before the evening which is the start of the Sabbath
