John the Baptiser recognises that Jesus is the one who will enable sins to be forgiven:
29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
At the last supper Jesus Christ himself confirms that forgiveness of sins is through him:
27 He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “All of you drink it, 28 for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
The apostle Paul several times confirms that it is through Jesus Christ that we can have our sins forgiven:
8 But God commends his own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
The apostle Peter gives the same message:
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
