Moses is commissioned by God to deliver the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt:
10 Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
11 Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
12 He said, “Certainly I will be with you. This will be the token to you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
Moses shows exemplary patience with the children of Israel. Following their sin in making a god, Moses pleads with God for the people:
31 Moses returned to the LORD, and said, “Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written.”
33 The LORD said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot him out of my book.
Moses' humility is noted:
3 Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all the men who were on the surface of the earth.
Moses has a very special relationship with God:
10 Since then, there has not arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, 11 in all the signs and the wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, 12 and in all the mighty hand, and in all the awesome deeds, which Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
Moses is a man of outstanding faith who, because he believes God’s promises, turns down a prosperous life in Egypt:
24 By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to share ill treatment with God’s people than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time, 26 considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
Moses and Elijah are seen with Jesus on the mount of the transfiguration:
30 Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
