- v 13 to 17 Some Pharisees and Herodians are sent to question Jesus about paying taxes, in order to trap him
- v 18 to 27 The Sadducees ask what happens in the resurrection when a woman has more than one husband
- v 28 to 34 The scribes ask which is the greatest commandment in the law of Moses
- v 35 to 37 Jesus questions the religious leaders, asking how Christ can be David's son
- v 38 to 44 Jesus warns against the hypocrisy of the scribes. Then at the treasury Jesus contrasts the attitude of the rich with that of a poor widow
