Acts 13 summary points

  • v 1 to 3 The Holy Spirit guides the assembly at Antioch to send Barnabas and Saul out preaching
  • v 4 to 12 Barnabas and Saul go and preach in Cyprus. They preach to Sergius Paulus, an official in Cyprus. He believes, but Elymas opposes them and is made blind for a while.
  • v 13 to 41 At the synagogue in Antioch in Pisidia, Saul (now called Paul) shows how God has guided their nation. He then shows that Jesus Christ who was recently killed is the promised offspring of king David who will bring salvation. His talk includes many first-century Christian beliefs
  • v 42 to 52 The following week the majority of the city come to hear Paul. Eventually the Jews disrupt Paul’s work with the Gentiles, so the apostles move on, determined to keep on preaching to the Gentiles
