A selection of verses about God listening to prayer.
Several Psalms tell us that God will hear our prayers:
2 You who hear prayer,
all men will come to you.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you,
for you will answer me.
Through the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, God says he hears prayer:
24 It will happen that before they call, I will answer;
and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
12 You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.
Jesus tells us that requests are only responded to if his words remain in us:
7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
God hears the prayer of Cornelius:
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
The apostle John tells us that God responds to requests that are according to his will:
14 This is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
