A selection of verses showing that we need to be “in Christ” to be part of God’s plan.
The apostle Paul told the first century believers many things about being “in Christ”.
We become “in Christ” by being baptised:
3 Or don’t you know that all we who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death?
We are released from our natural condemnation to death if we are “in Christ” and restrain our natural inclinations:
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
We are “in” either Adam or Christ. Only those “in Christ” have a long-term hope:
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
Those “in Christ” receive the blessing promised to Abraham:
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Those “in Christ” will be raised when Jesus Christ returns:
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
Those “in Christ” have a hope of life:
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, according to the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,
