Jesus ascended to heaven

A selection of verses showing that Jesus ascended to heaven.

Mark simply records that Jesus ascends to heaven after his resurrection:

Mark 16 verse 19

19 So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

Luke gives more detail in his record of the Acts of the Apostles where he describes what happens:

Acts 1 verses 9 - 11

9 When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, 11 who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”
 

When Stephen is killed he is granted a vision of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, confirming that Jesus has ascended to heaven:

Acts 7 verse 55

55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

The letter to the Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is in heaven:

Hebrews 9 verse 24

24 For Christ hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

Peter says of Jesus:

1 Peter 3 verse 22

22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
