A selection of verses showing that Jesus spoke with God's authority.
Jesus tells his disciples and fellow Jews that he has God's authority:
18 Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgement to the Son,
26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. 27 He also gave him authority to execute judgement, because he is a son of man.
Jesus says he has God's power in a prayer:
1 Jesus said these things, then lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you; 2 even as you gave him authority over all flesh, so he will give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
The apostle Peter has the same message when talking to a Roman centurion about Jesus:
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
